How to Use the App?

<ul>
<li>The optimal placement of the app involves positioning your iPhone on a stand near your workspace—either beside your MacBook or laptop or below your iMac or desktop monitor. Once activated, the app will turn the iPhone's screen black and prompt you to blink if you forget. The device can be oriented either vertically or horizontally, facilitating comfortable use with an iPad as well.</li>
</ul>

Research indicates that individuals working in front of screens often experience reduced blinking rates, which may adversely affect eye health. While the average blink rate is around 20 times per minute, studies have shown that it can drop significantly—by about 60 to 90 percent—when engaging with computers or smartphones. This decrease often occurs unconsciously, yet blinking remains vital for ocular well-being.

Importance of Blinking for Eye Health

<li>Blinking is essential for nourishing and lubricating the eyes. Each blink spreads a thin layer of tears across the ocular surface, preventing dryness and clearing away dust or foreign particles that could cause irritation or impair vision.</li>

Effects of Concentration on Blinking

<li>When focusing intently on tasks such as reading, watching video content, or working at a computer, blinking rates tend to decline sharply—averaging only three to eight blinks per minute. This reduction, which can be approximately 60% less than normal, may result in eyestrain and dry eyes if sustained over time.</li>

Maintaining proper blinking frequency is vital to sustain eye moisture through three layers of tears:

<li>The innermost layer, rich in proteins, directly coats the eye surface, providing moisture and a smooth base for the subsequent layers.</li>
<li>The middle watery layer helps wash away debris and supplies essential minerals, proteins, and moisture to the cornea.</li>
<li>The outer oily layer prevents evaporation of the watery layer and facilitates lubrication between the eyelids and the eyes.</li>
</ul>

If these tear layers are not maintained through regular blinking, eyes can become deprived of nourishment and cleansing, increasing discomfort and strain.

For optimal eye health and clear vision, it is recommended to blink gently every two to four seconds—equating to approximately fifteen to thirty blinks per minute. The app's reminders aim to help users develop this habit over time by converting conscious effort into an automatic reflex.

Regular blinking should be maintained during all activities. Although it might seem trivial, consistent blinking habits significantly contribute to long-term eye health and comfort.

Emerging research suggests that blinking induces a brief state of wakeful rest in the brain, potentially enhancing focus afterward. Briefly closing the eyes during blinking may help in gathering thoughts and sharpening attention.

The app offers four modes: screen, audio, vibration, and flashlight. Users can select the mode based on environment or personal preference:
